Therapy Intensives in Boulder, CO

An intensive is four hours of focused work in a single day, or four hours a day across two, in person with Kate and nothing else on the calendar. Couples, marriages, and families choose it when they want to give something their full attention and follow it all the way through.

Who it's for

The moments this is built for

01

Couples who want to follow one conversation all the way through, start to finish

02

Partners rebuilding trust after a betrayal, who want unhurried time to do that together

03

Couples with a decision in front of them: a move, a pregnancy, a question about the future they want to answer together

04

Families ready to talk openly about something everyone has been carrying on their own

05

A parent and an adult child who want one long, honest conversation with each other

06

People who travel in to see us, and would rather give the work a full day or two at once

How it works

Four hours a day, one day or two

An intensive runs four hours a day, either as a single day or across two consecutive ones, in person at our Boulder office. Kate Snow, our founder and clinical director, runs it herself, and the two of you settle on the length in the consultation.

Four uninterrupted hours change what a day can hold. There's time to let a conversation build, follow it wherever it goes, and stay with a feeling long enough for something to shift. Momentum carries from the morning into the afternoon, and, when you take a second day, from one day into the next.

What happens in the room is the same attachment-based approach we use in weekly couples and family sessions: Emotionally Focused Therapy, looking beneath the surface argument at what each person is actually protecting. It's the same care Kate brings to every session, with more time to work in.

What the time looks like

01

Before you come

A free consultation first, then a longer intake. Kate walks in already knowing the history, so the work is in motion from the first hour.

02

Inside four hours

Time to find the cycle underneath the argument, the one that repeats no matter what the subject is, and to start shifting it while everyone is still in the room.

03

If you take a second day

Four more hours with the first day's work already underneath them. A second day gives room to go further into the conversations the cycle has been blocking.

04

Afterward

You leave knowing what comes next. Sometimes that's follow-up sessions, sometimes a check-in further out. You and Kate decide before you finish.

Common questions

It's a long block of therapy, four hours in a day, run either as a single day or across two consecutive ones. You set the time aside and the work unfolds in one continuous stretch. Kate runs it start to finish.

Both. Couples and marriage work is what most people have in mind, and the same format works for families: a parent and an adult child ready to reconnect, a household ready to talk about something it has been carrying, or a family working through a separation together. Who comes into the room gets decided in the consultation.

For some people it stands on its own. For others it's a starting point that makes weekly work go better afterward, or a way to get unstuck partway through therapy they're already in. Kate will be straight with you in the consultation about which one she thinks you're looking at.

That gets decided in your consultation. A single four-hour day suits a focused question or one pattern you want to work on. Two days gives room to go further, and lets the first day settle overnight before you pick it back up. Kate will tell you which one she thinks fits.

That's what the free consultation is for. An intensive asks a lot of you, and it isn't the right call for everyone. If weekly sessions would serve you better, or if there's something that needs attention first, Kate will tell you rather than book you.

Fees are discussed during your free consultation. Flatirons Relationship Center is a private-pay practice. We can provide a superbill (itemized receipt) that you can submit to your insurance for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
